Short Bio
Dr. Kıral completed his PhD in Civil Engineering at Boğaziçi University and has been pursuing academic activities for approximately eleven years. He received his Master's degree in Construction Project Management from the University of Manchester. In his Master's thesis, he evaluated the suitability of risk identification techniques throughout the life cycle of construction projects. Later, in his PhD thesis, he developed a model to evaluate the effectiveness of virtual construction safety training tools, utilizing innovative data analysis methods such as eye-tracking metrics. Accordingly, he has specialized in the core areas of Construction Project Management, including Risk Management, Project Planning and Control, Organizational Development, Contract Management, and Occupational Health and Safety. He has also published eight SCI-E indexed, one ESCI indexed, one TR Dizin indexed, and one other indexed journal articles; eleven international and one national conference papers; four international books; and one international book chapter. In addition to his academic career, he worked as a planning engineer at ENKA, where he had the opportunity to develop his tacit knowledge within the sector and specialized in planning. Throughout his twelve-year professional career, he has served as a project assistant in two different Scientific Research Projects (BAP), a developer in his own project, a research assistant at Boğaziçi University for five years, a visiting lecturer at Altınbaş University for one year, and an assistant professor at İstinye University for three and a half years. He has also held various administrative positions at İstinye University, including Vice Dean and Head of the Department of Civil Engineering. Based on his academic work and industry experience, he possesses knowledge and experience in many areas of construction project management, including construction risk management, game development, design of occupational health and safety training, development of serious game-based training methods, measurement and evaluation of environmental awareness levels of construction workers, analysis of critical factors affecting occupational health and safety ergonomics, work schedule development, construction cost analysis, earned value analysis applications, preparation of contracts specific to construction projects, and organizational and human-centered development. He currently works as an assistant professor and head of the construction management department at Bursa Technical University, and a visiting lecturer at Istanbul Medipol University.
